A Message from the Principal

Principal WilliamsDear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome to a New Year and a brand new website. As you take a look at our website, you will get a glimpse of the wonderful programs and resources P.S. 122, The Mamie Fay School, has to offer. This website will change monthly with updated information, so please visit often. At P.S. 122, a PreK-8 elementary school, it is important that we provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students to learn and grow. We offer a variety of classroom settings for our diverse population. P.S. 122 offers General Education classes, Special Education services in the least restrictive environment, English as a New Language classes and the Gifted and Talented program. Our Middle School Academy students graduate with Regents credit for Living Environment, Algebra, and are awarded credit for the Spanish Proficiency.

Here at P.S. 122, we are all committed to providing students with an intellectually challenging curriculum. We believe that every child can succeed and develop the necessary skills for college, career, and independent living.

We value our partnership with our parents and school community. Studies show that when parents are involved in their child’s education they do much better. There are many ways to participate in your child’s education, such as:

  • Become a member of the PTO
  • Attend a PTO meeting
  • Attend a class celebration
  • Make sure your child has the required physical and all immunizations
  • Chaperone a class trip
  • Sign up for NYKIDS College Savings 529 plan and get $300.00 towards your child’s education.
  • Attend Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Make an appointment with your child’s teacher on Tuesday afternoon
  • Stay informed with notices and your child’s school work
  • Attend a Special Event the school has to offer such as Family Night, Sneak Peak and more
  • Join us for Culminating events for each art residency on the grade
  • Join us for the Winter and Spring Chorus and Band Concerts
  • Join the Parent Coordinator for a Special Parent Workshop
  • Volunteer and become a Learning Leader

Together we will work as a team to help foster the success of each and every student at P.S. 122. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Anna Aprea Principal
