Knitting Club
Not only is knitting a great social activity, knitting is a great way to relax and unwind. Knitting in a group setting also builds camaraderie and self-esteem. As students learn to knit, they make new friends, help each other, and get to watch their creations grow into pieces they can truly be proud of and enjoy. Fun fact - a 2007 study conducted by Harvard Medical School’s Mind and Body Institute, found that knitting lowers heart rate, by an average of 11 beats per minute, and induces an “enhanced state of calm,” similar to that of yoga! Additionally, knitting improves manual dexterity so if you’re hoping to be a surgeon, knitting will sharpen your stitching skills – something you can’t get from swiping a screen!
